Tree of Spirits – with Caribbean Song and Story
Part of National Schools Film Week.
This film blends West African and North American story telling and touches on universal themes – the
environment, the quest for water and friendship. It is the story of Kodou and Tano, two young children, who meet Ayoka, the spirit of a baobab tree that is soon to be cut down by an entrepreneur. Kodou and Ayoka seek help from the ancestors in order to save the tree.
French with English subtitles.
Before the film Caspar James (Culture Crossroads) will explore the African storytelling tradition and its links with the Caribbean.
