Still in shock
I just received a text from my friend in Port-au-Prince saying that she and my other friends there are ok. A great relief for me but still can’t take in the scale of what has happened. It sounds like there is a real blockage getting the aid to the people. I also saw on the Cuban television an interview with a Haitian aid working asking why all the international aid, apart from that of Hugo Chavez, went straight to the richer neighbourhoods.
Under the shadow of this catastrophe my classes here in Santiago de Cuba have continued, and there are plenty of musical gems to share with you as soon as I get some more time on a computer.
We already have one comment with a link to a charity with Haitian connections (please see Jurgita’s comment to the previous blog ‘Feeling the shockwaves in Cuba…’). Please share any others and lets hope the aid gets to the people in need as soon as possible.
