About us…
  • A powerful cultural experience through song, story, music and dance.
  • Celebrating how diverse cultures have combined in the Caribbean and what this can teach us in the UK.
  • Providing models of social cohesion and how culture has overcome conflict.
  • Creating new and exciting ways of learning and understanding.
Culture Crossroads facilitates genuine cultural experiences in an entertaining and educational way. We use the vibrant song, story, music and dance traditions of the Americas to tell the stories of the creole communities that created them. Our current focus is on the Caribbean region.

These traditions provide a model of inter-cultural understanding because they are the results of centuries of contact, conflict and collaboration between African, European, Amerindian and Asian ethnic groups.

Our aim is to present Caribbean traditions as powerfully and as authentically as possible. This means that singers, dancers, musicians and story-tellers will work together to ensure that the students or audience are provided with a complete cultural immersion that will leave a lasting and profound impression.

Our events engage with British children and adults of all backgrounds by celebrating a variety of cultures. This reveals ways that culture has overcome conflict in a part of the world where multi-culturalism has been a reality for over 400 years.

The stories we tell are particularly engaging for young people who have not been inspired by traditional teaching methods. Through music, dance and drama we can provide alternative pathways to academic subjects such as social and political history, languages, religious studies and citizenship.
